September 16, 2019 Women's Volleyball Indy CC triumphs on road at Garden City CC Independence Community College hit the road for a KJCC West match up with host Garden City and came back with a 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 25-16) win to bring their record to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in conference. Indy CC came out on fire in the first set in front of a great crowd that featured our own Pirates Football team to take the first set 25-22 behind 16 kills at a .452% to take a 1-0 lead. Garden City would come back and take the second set 22-25 that went back and forth until the end. Your Pirates Volleyball team would not be denied on the road as they took the final two sets to take home the match with a 3-1 score. Indy CC had a trio of attackers with double digits lead by freshman Mar Danes with 16 kills. Sophomores Patricia Seller and Natasha Colon were right behind at 13 and 11 kills respectively. Sophomore Hannia Rios led the offense with a match high 42 assists and added 13 digs for her first double-double of the season. Four Pirates defenders reach 10 digs or more with Colon leading the way with 19, for her 3nd double-double, followed by freshman Kalia Porter with 11 and Danes with 10 for her 4th double-double of the season. Indy CC next hits the court Monday Sept. 16th at 6:30pm to take on crosstown rival and #1 Ranked Coffeyville CC.
