INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - The KJCCC has released the 2025 Preseason Volleyball predicted order of finish poll, and after a 7-19 season a year ago the Pirates have landed in a three way tie for 8th in the season ahead.
The Pirates have four sophomores returning from last year's squad who will be accompanied by a crop of new talent as they are set to take on their 36 game schedule, beginning at the Fort Scott Invitational on August 22nd.
Defending champion and KJCCC powerhouse Cowley was at the top of the preseason poll with nine of the ten first place votes, followed by Johnson County who received the other lone first place vote. The Pirates will play host to both teams as Cowley comes to town on September 10th, followed by Johnson County on October 7th.
Coming in at third was KCKCC, with 76 points, followed by Allen with 58. The Pirates will travel to take on KCKCC on October 1st, and will play host to Allen on September 7th.
Coming in right behind Allen, in fifth, is Highland with 57 points, one behind Allen for the fourth spot. Neosho landed at sixth with 53 points, followed by Labette with 42. Independence will travel to Highland on October 15th, while they will book-end their conference schedule by kicking off conference play traveling to Labette on September 3rd, and rounding out conference play by traveling to Neosho on October 29th.
Rounding out the preseason poll, tied with Independence for eighth is Coffeyville and Fort Scott with 28 points. The Pirates will travel to take on the Red Ravens on September 24th, and will play host to Fort Scott on October 22nd, their final regular season home game.
